5/25/2018 1 Comment Fun at Flora’s partyEarly last month I was lucky enough to be asked to go to Flora’s birthday celebrations and do a ‘make up’ party for her and her friends. By ‘make up’ what I mean is face paint, that’s refered to as lipstick, blusher and eye shadow to all that attend the party. All that ‘make up’ teamed with some sparkles and extra special gems made for some very excited girls! The Birthday girl, pictured above, went first. She chose her bling from a selection of hand made gem pieces. Next she chose her glitter and colour scheme, it was of course pink! flora was so excited and she help me to set up and showed all her friends to their seats and decided what order they would all go in. She was very helpful and with her help my job was made all the easier! Below are pictures of some of Flora’s friends that cake to her party. They all loved the unique gem pieces and enjoyed picking one out to match their outfits or just because they liked the colour. Everyone of course had lipstick and a few wanted blusher and eye make up too. These photos were all taken before the ice cream cake out!! so, a big thank you to Flora for having me at her party and for all her help during the celebrations. I hope to sparkle you and your friends again sometime! ✨

5/25/2018 0 Comments Victoria’s Glitter PartyI first met Victoria and her family last year at her Dad’s 70th Birthday celebrations. It was a fab birthday party and the whole family were so welcoming and fun to be around. So, when Victoria got in touch about booking me to come and glitter her guests at her 40th Birthday celebrations I was delighted. This family know how to throw a party. The attention to detail is incredible and they are amazing hosts. I was blown away by the garden transformation. They turned their garden into a super sparkly setting, with a festival ‘vIP area’ vibe. There were chill out areas, glitter background, fairy light walls, a fire pit and they even built a bar especially for the night. My glitter station looked perfect alongside all the sparkles and I was located infront of a fairy light wall which, when it got dark, made the perfect backdrop for my set up. I arrived early on the night to do Victoria’s make up and then sparkle her up to the max. She looked fabulous and her sparkly shoes were amazing so I had to include a picture of those for you to see! Once Victoria was ready, I started to sparkle her guests. Everyone was dressed in ‘glitz and glam’ and I was there to add the glitter! Below are a few faces from the night I love my clients and I love it when I get to see them again and again. Victoria and her family are among my favourite and I want to wish her the happiest of Birthdays and say a big thank you for asking me to be a part of your celebrations.
7/25/2016 0 Comments Summer Soup and the SeasideEarlier this month I had the pleasure of working for the Covent Garden Soup Company as they set up a travelling kitchen on the Aldeburgh sea front. They were giving away tasters of their summer soup (which I also had the pleasure of tasting) and photographing passes by in their giant deckchair and seaside scene, cut out boards. Two photographers, (who were the nicest guys and such a pleasure to work alongside) were there taking the photos and then immediately printing them out onto postcards! So before customers had their photos taken, or while they waited for their photo to print, they could have a face paint with me! I set up alongside the photographers and watched them work their magic. The instant photo postcard was absolutely brilliant and people could also recieve a digital copy of the image by leaving their email address. a cute mermaid I painted on someone's arm... a seaside inspired floral design... Here I am enjoying the summer soup, sweet potato and beans! Guys, soup is for life not just winter!! It was a fabulous day, there were lots of people around and the sun was shining down on us for the whole day. I would absolutely love to work with this team again, it was one of the most enjoyable days of painting I've ever had.
6/16/2016 1 Comment Sparkle and ShineDuring the celebrations for the Queen last week, one local village hosted a street party and talent show. The lovely Iris was gong to be performing in the show with a mix of dance and gymnastics so I offered to paint her face to give her that extra wow factor! Iris was going to be wearing a silver and black leotard, so I created this bold blingeye design to match. I used professional face paint, Gems and cosmetic glitter to make Iris sparkle and shine!
6/6/2016 0 Comments A Sunday in SouthwoldYesterday the sun was shining on Southwold pier and loads of children and their families came out to enjoy the last day of the half term. I spent the day in the beach cafe, offering complimentary face painting provided by the pier to the public. The pier has such a fabulous atmosphere and I have never seen a team of staff work so well together and so hard! So to be a part of that, is a real honour! . I set my paints up and then, like most gigs I attend, I painted my own face and popped outside for a selfie! It was sunny but breezy down at the seafront, hence the windswept look... I was really happy when the first two children I painted were two sisters that I hadn't seen for ages. As well as face painting, the pier were providing a Punch and Judy show on the seafront. There were three shows the light the afternoon and each one had a huge amount of viewers. When the Punch and Judy shows were on, my queue was non existent, so I used that time to paint an octopus on my arm and pop out for a photo of it with the sea behind it! octopi then became quite popular with the public, which was great, as I discovered they are really fun to paint! butterflies and florals were also a popular choice.... Another popular design, for both the face and arm, was a mermaid. I painted lots but only managed to take a photo of one..... I love painting mermaids as its a perfect opportunity to use my shimmer colours! I had a fab day at the pier and I will be back there at the end of July offering complimentary face painting. Come and see us, rain or shine!!
3/21/2016 0 Comments On the spot design!I had a 'super' time painting at Oscar's super hero party yesterday. It was hero and princess galore and Spiderman and Elsa were the most popular by far! So after churning out quite a few spiderman faces, this little guy, who had waited very patiently, sits in my chair and says "I'd like a Spiderman, Superman please" Hooray, the chance to get creative!! I absolutely love it when children have their own ideas about what they would like and challenge me like this. I've never painted a Spiderman/Superman combo so I was excited at the challenge and opportunity to make a design up on the spot! So here it is, my on the spot Spiderman/Superman design! He was super happy with it and therefore, so was I! Quick selfie with Spidey before I left!
1/21/2016 0 Comments Bowie TributeThe death of the legendary, David Bowie left me feeling very sad. So I did what a lot of artists do and used that emotion to create. Of course, for me, this had to be in the form of a Bowie inspired face paint or two! The first paint I did was inspired by Bowie's roll as Jareth the Goblin King in the 80s movie Labyrinth. The Labyrinth is one of my favourites, I have seen it so many times and more recently I had the pleasure of introducing it to my 7 year old, who loved it just as much as I did when I was young. If you haven't seen it then you really must!! Above is a look inspired by probably the most famous Bowie look, the Aladdin Sane album cover. Various versions of this have been all over my news feed as lots of my fellow face painter friends have recreated the look. It's definitely an image that a lot of people are familiar with and can recognise.
I thoroughly enjoyed recreating these looks and felt a little bit better for painting them. I will leave you with a quote from one of my favourite Bowie llyrics, taken from a song he wrote for the movie, Labyrinth. Today I painted for the East of England Coop. They were running a healthcare roadshow in Ipswich Town centre. Their pharmacy team were offering advice about blood pressure, flu vaccinations, travel vaccinations and medicines, health eating, weight management, stop smoking services and sexual health. Their hearing specialists were carrying out free hearing tests and customers also had the opportunity to find out more information about the Coop's optical services. I received some professional advice about cosmetic lenses, which I am planning on wearing for Halloween!! There was the opportunity to sign up as a member (with a fabulous goody bag if you did) and to enter a competition to win a health spa day for two, worth over £200 , (which of course, I entered)!! While this was all going on for the adults, I was there to offer complimentary face painting on behalf of the Coop, for the children. Lots of little ones were excited to get their faces done and many of them chose to have a Halloween face in preparation for Saturday's celebrations. As well as the usual butterflies and tigers, I painted lots of zombies, vampires, a Frankenstein's monster, a devil and a spooky Spider-Man! It was cold wet and windy, but despite the horrible weather, lots of current and new coop members came along to experience what the roadshow had to offer, which was a lot! I was really busy so I didn't get many photos, I wish I'd taken one of the devil, as it's the first time I'd ever painted one! Below are a couple I did manage to snap, a blue and red spider man and Venom and a pretty bat face.... The next healthcare roadshow run by the Coop is on Tuesday the 3rd November at the Coop store, Saxmundham Road, Aldeburugh. I highly recommend going along to talk to the professional about your health care needs and to enter the spa day competition... You may even get a free apple too! 9/30/2015 0 Comments Bo and Ruby's 3rd Birthday PartyThis weekend I went to Halesworth to paint at Bo and Ruby's birthday party! I first painted Bo and Ruby at the Blyford Queens Head summer fete. It was the first time Bo had had her face painted and she chose to be a pink cat! Ruby chose to have her arm painted with some pretty flowers. The party was a mix of girls and boys which is always fun as I get to paint a variety of designs. As it was a 3rd birthday party there was a mix of ages from babies up to older siblings of about 5. But the majority were around 2-3 years old. Painting little ones of this age can be very difficult. They will climb my glitter ladder (aka my face paint chair) all excited, then as soon as Its time to speak, they go all shy. They don't like to say their name or what they want to be! This is when my degree in Early Childhood studies comes in handy. I talk to them softly and calmly, we do a practise on their arm, which is usually a rainbow or spider or something simple but effective. This approach relaxes and reassures them, so I can then begin to paint. This however doesn't guarantee they will sit still! ![]() Olivia had her face painted for the first time, oh my she was a cutie! I did a flower on her hand so she knew what the paint felt like on her skin and then I turned her into a fairy princess with a flower crown. She looked beautiful! So on to the birthday girls, I didn't manage to get a photo of Ruby's arm, but she chose to have butterflies and flowers, in oranges and pinks to match her dress. Bo had recently watched Frozen so she chose a frozen princess crown. The birthday child always gets a little something special, this could be a little gift or in most cases, for little girls, some bling on their design. Bo looked through all the gems I had made and chose a pretty blue one which would watch her frozen face. She sat so still, with her eyes shut the whole time. She chose pink lip stick and gave me the best pout so I could add the glitter! Bo's Mum later sent me a photo of Bo going to bed with her face paint still on. This has to be my career highlight, I'm so happy that's she didn't want to wash her face paint off! Another little lady that didn't want her paint off was painted with a frozen design on her face and flowers up her arm. Her mummy compromised and let her keep her arm painting on, which she told me was still on all the following day too! It was a really pretty arm design with a pink and teal theme to match her dress. The colours worked perfectly together so I will definitely use them in the same way another time. I must show you the cakes!! Two cakes, one for each birthday girl, wow!! Bo's was made lovingly by her mummy and was, of course, a frozen themed one. Ruby's was made by a very talented friend of mine, Becs from 'Becs Cake Creations' it was a Peppa pig themed one with her name on it, her age and some super cute flowers and ladybirds! Both cakes looked amazing and most importantly Ruby and Bo loved them! I had so much fun at the party. I painted boys girls, young and old. I don't have a photo of any of the adults but I painted a pirate, a princess crown and some flowers on some of the grown ups!
Hopefully it won't be the last time I see or paint Ruby and Bo as I'm yet to paint Ruby's face, even with the bribe of some bling! Went over to LaLa's house today for a cuppa and of course I took my kit! If Boom Boom is about and up for it then her face gets painted! Last time I did her face I asked her if I could do something with a Halloween theme next time. So when I asked her what she'd like this time she said "a Halloween butterfly, but pretty please" We chose the colours together and then I came up with this pretty design. She seemed pleased with it and even pinched my mirror to keep looking at herself in it! |
